Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

We regret to inform you the GEMG committee has decided to postpone our 2020 Conference to May 2021 (dates TBA).

With the Federal Government this morning announcing Non-essential indoor gatherings of more than 100 people have been banned, we sadly fall into this category.  Other factors in our consideration to postpone included the health and safety of our delegates and impact on our community; company policies restricting travel and attendance to conferences affecting delegates, the committee itself and financial responsibility to all involved.

We understand many delegates have already booked flights and accommodation and may be able to seek credit for these bookings if requested before their respective deadlines. We encourage our delegates to check their individual arrangements with Qantas and Virgin Airlines as soon as possible to receive flight credits or refunds.

We will be in touch with already registered Delegates and Sponsors in the next few days to offer refunds or to carry over their bookings to 2021.

Discussions with Vendors has been ongoing in the last week and they are kindly working with us to ensure deposits can be carried over to 2021.

Presenters will be contacted shortly as well and we thank all of the Presenters for their insights and information in the last few days.

The GEMG was formed by individuals to network and share their environmental knowledge and experiences. Our volunteer committee will be seeking opportunities later in 2020 to play our role in the recovery and restoration of community function as our professional network is important to our members.

If you have any specific concerns about the conference please contact us at secretary@gemg.org.au or 08 6165 8821.
